Stroke advice- how many can you have

the first stroke I was aware of was a year ago (I was told it was a stroke not a TIA) and I had problems with my speech for a while. At the time I asked about previous strokes and they said yes I had 2 before.

I've just had another one - this time it affected my right hand and my ability to pick things up and write.

I don't know what to do or think. I've asked about life expectancy and was told the only stat that was available was roughly a third of all strokes we're recurrent ones. But how many can I expect before it kills me or leaves me severely disabled.

I'm 60 and don't know whether I should retire early or keep on working. I'm lucky that I can retire but still I'm so used to working and everyone I know works - there's like an imperative that says I have to work. Should I now say Fck it and potter. Four strokes leaves me freaked when I think about my future.

Has anyone any experience of more than one stroke and. can advise

It must be so worrying for you. Maybe contact the stroke association for some support and information Flowers

Thank you Caughtavibe.

I spoke to stroke association and it was them who gave me the third of all strokes are recurring but they couldn't say anything else. There was no information they give me. I thought that the mighty mumsnet may have some information even if it was negative based on their or a relative's experience.
