Definition of life limiting

I have lung disease and I don't think of it as life limiting. I certainly don't want to anyway. This is a passive aggressive way of my saying there should be a different forum title (I'm ill and grumpy), I know I can post anywhere but this seems the best one. It's hard enough to face in the real world.

I understand what you're saying here OP. How about:
Incurable
Incurable but manageable
Chronic illnesses
Lifelong illnesses

Maybe post in Site Stuff? If you're ill and grumpy I find it best to wallow in it for a bit and make sure everyone knows. It's very cathartic Wink

I thought it was a euphemism for 'causes premature death' - ie limits your life span, not necessarily what you do with it.

The condition that you have means that you will most likely not live until the prescribed number given for the general population.

However a fair number of people won’t either, through accident, illness and bad luck.

Take every day as it comes and enjoy it. Being given that diagnosis is not an end t life it’s a sharp reminder to enjoy it. We are all on clocks that are ticking. Some bugger just told you yours is. So your choice whether to get grumpy about it or enjoy every moment that you can.

Ah thanks Twitter queen, I am glad I'm not crazy and ungrateful for life for having those thoughts. I quite like incurable yet manageable. You're so right about wallowing. I'm almost hoping it turns into a full blown cold. You're right zofloramummy, I just happen to know.

Can’t say I agree with most of the above posts. I assume you’ve heard the term from an nhs professional? You’ll hear a lot more of which you won’t be sure of as all due respect them, they tend to have their own coded language which usually leaves you, after quite a while, no more enlightened than you were when you started.

‘Limiting’ just means you may not live until you’re older than the oldest person. Currently this is well into the 90’s and pushing 100’s, people are living so long. It’s a safe boundary from which a medical prof can impart information without upsetting you/lying/possibility of being sued. The nhs are good but never underestimate their desire to hedge their bets so to speak. You’ll get next to nothing out of them re almost anything else so it’s worth joining a few online groups of whom have info about your condition, talk tends to be more free and liberal.

Sierra I don't understand what it is that you are disagreeing with? OP has said she has lung disease but prefers not to think of it as life-limiting. That's reasonable surely? Many, many people have life-long illnesses that can be managed successfully.

Did I say I was disagreeing with the OP?
