Has anyone here had a vitrectomy? (FOV)

I'm considering one. After one year, eye floaters are still ruining my life and mental health. I can't go on holiday to the places I love, I can't decorate my house in a minimalist way, my eyes hurt from focusing on them.

Yes but for a different reason as i had a retina detachment and needed a vitrectomy as part of the repair.

The surgery was painless, recovery was easy, just lots of drops and a very red eye.

Things to ask would be whether you will need a gas bubble inserting, if yes that puts you at high risk of cataract so might be best having a lens replacement at the same time. You would need to ask if this would be plain or corrective and the lens replacement can affect your ability to focus.

It also doesnt guarantee a long term resolution to eye floaters so you need to go in knowing that they cant guarantee a total fix.

Thanks, did you have floaters before the FOV? Did you have any complications or was it generally a success? I have spoken with some people who sought FOVs for floaters who say they have crystal clear vision after vitrectomy. I know there are complication risks, as with any surgery, but I'm so tired of living like this...

I didnt have floaters no, did actually get some for about 3 weeks after the surgery while the vitreous fluid was reforming but then they disappeared.

My main issue was the retina detachment, i have a loss of vision in that eye but that is because of the damage done. The surgery went well and stopped the vision loss getting worse.
