So no more chemo for DH, I am guessing months now, although bizarrely he is still feeling fine and is happily building his shed. We are booked in for counselling later in September, DC's know he is not getting better but haven't told them about the latest news. I have quietly rebelled and booked to tae us all the Harry Potter studios on a school day.

I'm sorry to hear this. Harry Potter sounds like a good shout Flowers

I am so sorry. Please take care of yourself, don't be afraid to ask for help, and also don't be afraid to turn away offers of help that you don't need or that come when you don't need or want them.

We found masses of phone calls hard to deal with, intrusive, took up time and we were just saying the same things over and over. If you can bear to , set up a system for emailing updates and only take phone calls from people you want to speak to. Explain why, people who have not been through critical illness don't realise that ten ten minute calls a day , no matter how well intentioned, are very wearing.

The shed sounds like a good project!

I’m so sorry. How old is your DH? How is he feeling about it all? It’s such a horrible time

FiveGoMadInDorset · 31/08/2018 21:39

He is 55, DC's are 12 and 10. I think stock is the answer, he has always been a man of few words

Oh Five, I think you're allowed to do school day trips in those circumstances! You enjoy it.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 31/08/2018 21:47

Stoic not stock, also taking DH gin making, as they keep your gin mix on record which means we can still order bottles after he has gone

Oh my lovely, I am SO sorry to hear that, so very sorry.

It’s really hard to accept anyway, but when someone looks so well it’s even harder.

Big hugs & lots of strength coming your way, as always xx

bananastar · 31/08/2018 21:50

So so sorry for you. Big hugs and look after each other.

AnnieAnoniMoose · 31/08/2018 21:53

Your DC will benefit FAR more from days with their Dad than school, take as much time out as possible.

I love the Gin idea, that’s fab! Gin

plum100 · 31/08/2018 21:55

I'm so sorry to hear this Flowers

Totally agree with taking your DC out of school and doing lovely things, and the gin idea is brilliant.

bobstersmum · 31/08/2018 22:25

I myself lost a partner to cancer, I was very young myself at the time and didn't get my head around the fact he was going to die. I remember my partner just throwing caution to the wind and doing anything that took his fancy, before he got too ill. I'm so sad to hear your news. I hope you all have as much fun as you possibly can from now on, sending love to you all.

Willowkins · 05/09/2018 00:18
