Holiday insurance??Anyone had a reasonable quote

Hoping that the massed brain power of mumsnet can help with this.

We are going on holiday for a week to a European destination, 4 hours flight. Mum, who has secondary cancers, has been quoted £1,000 minimum for holiday insurance. She has had some hospitalisation (due to treatment drugs not the cancer) but the cancer is responding well to the treatment and is currently controlled, so we are not expecting any hospitalisation due to cancer during the course of the holiday. Her drug regime has also changed so there have been no further adverse reactions.

However she would like to be covered for things like tripping over and breaking an ankle.

We have done some online applications but they all give a "reasonable" insurance quotation of around £300, but once she phones to confirm they either won't insure or quote over a thousand pounds.

Has anyone found a company that does reasonable insurance for cancer patients? Mum has said she will go with no insurance but I also know she's the type of person who will quietly worry about it.

I've used All Clear insurance for dd but she was in remission I think if you are undergoing treatment it's a different story and as you've found they won't insure or it's a lot of money.

If she wants cover for things unrelated to her conditions insurers should cover it if all conditions etc are declared.

Thank you - I did an online quick quote with them and it looked reasonable compared to others. Fingers crossed!

Holidaysafe was good for us! However DD has disabilities so I'm afraid I can't say for definite how they are for cancer patients.

Moneysavingexpert website has useful advice about travel insurance for medical conditions if you haven't already seen it? We didn't find their recommended providers were any cheaper though - was just trial and error with all the insurance providers that ended up with the cheapest quote for us.

Good luck and hope you have a lovely holiday Smile

Thanks butterfly Our first website was moneysavingexpert which at first offered reasonable quotes but when we followed them up they all wouldn't insure or were stupid.

i will check out Holidaysafe.

Try insurancewith.

I struggled earlier this year to get insurance after a secondary breast cancer diagnosis (Im still feeling fine, just on daily medication and working full time). After trying multiple companies who either tried to quote 1700+ or just flat out said no, I tried insurancewith. £200+ for annual policy including USA

I haven't used them for cancer but 'ok to travel' were very good for insuring my daughter who has severe mental health problems. They were also very helpful on the phone.
