Biopsy results in and it 17 - 22mm ER+ HER2 neg. surgery is Friday . Hand hold please and advice from anyone who has been through the same. It will be 3 weeks from finding it to surgery. I am holding it together in public but inside I am screaming .

Hi Oakthorn, I'm another one that underwent treatment October 2016 with a WLE 40mm mucinous DCIS ER+ and HER-
I finished radiotherapy just before Christmas and returned to work in the January. I'll be on letrozole until 2026!
My advice would be recovery starts after treatment finishes, and don't rush back to work unless you really have too. Radiotherapy made me really tired, and the breast skin was sore and uncomfortable.
Because I was run down, I developed another condition, not cancer related, but that also impacted on my recovery.
However I am now feeling much more back to normal, and really benefitted from seeing a counsellor attached to the hospital. Having a diagnosis of cancer is a bit like managing a project and I found i had to minimise my feelings and fear in order to support my own children, my mother, my friends and even my DH. Counselling gave me a safe space to acknowledge just how shit the whole episode had been, and how truly frightened I had been.
There is a lot if bollocks written about fighting, battling etc, you just have to get on with it, no other options.
But, it's true, this too shall pass. Early days and all that.
💐💐

About the soreness, I developed an infection at about the same stage as you. Best to get it checked out, as I had mastitis and was sore and exhausted

I'm so glad everything went well, oakthorn.

areyouready gives some good advice. Try and nurture yourself as much as you can. Take all the help you can get, and make sure you get treatment for the side effects etc. It was one of the few times when I found the NHS was truly responsive.

Take care ThanksThanksThanks
