Advice for supporting friend with non-curable cancer

A friend is in hospital with an infection after chemo. She's been told that her cancer is not curable, so is undergoing palliative care. She's been in hospital for a week or so. (Vague as to not out friend.)

I'm visiting this weekend. Can you suggest anything that might be useful if she's going to be in hospital for a while longer? I should add she has loads of visitors so I'm reluctant to load her with yet more stuff to put in her little cupboard.

hi does your friend like crafts? knitting, crochet, card making, scrapbooking, i escape into my crafts when i can, dp is undergoing chemo at the minute, so hes in hospital for 3 days every 3 weeks, he likes to play on the ds, also the tv in hospitals cost loads so you could top the tv card up.

Could you take in some stuff to do a manicure or pedicure for her? Avoids giving her lots of stuff as you can take away the this you use of she doesn't have room.

When my friend was in a similar situation I took magazines as she said she struggled to concentrate long enough to get into books.

Topping up the TV card is another good suggestion

Thanks davids and yellow. I took a book but I'm not sure she'll be able to read it as her concentration is poor.

She has a lot of visitors and her bed is surrounded with magazines and so on so I'll take sweets next time - if she can't eat them then they can be shared with her kids and other people on the ward.
