What are your 'parent names'?

My wife and I are both going by 'mummy' with our 6 month old (I wanted 'mummy and mama', but she doesn't like 'mama'). Has anyone else got the same 'parent name' as their partner, and have your kids got confused as they've got older and learnt to talk?

We didn't particularly make a decision as we figured DD would end up calling us what she felt like - I knew a few parents who had fixed ideas about names and got disappointed when the baby didn't fall in line! So we started off being mama and mama, then mama firstname and mama firstname. Then she had an adorable phase when she'd call us 'My Sarah' or 'My [Partners' Name]. Now she sort of slurs together 'mummy' and our names, so I'm 'mu'Sarah' with a Yorkshire glottal stop.

The one fixed thing has been she's never got remotely confused. It's obvious to her who we are. She is a cheeky thing, though - someone once asked her what she called her mummies to tell them apart and she replied, calmly 'oh, I just call's them and they comes, doesn't matter which'. She was about three. Hmm Grin

@SarahAndQuack , your DD sounds adorable- cheeky kids are the most fun! (When they're other people's, at least!) My sister did make the point that, if my DD shouts "Mummy!", she probably doesn't care which one of us comes as long as one of us appears to do her bidding! That's good to hear she's never got confused. How old is she now, if you don't mind my asking?

We do Mummy and Mama but our DC is two now and he's known what our actual names are for ages, so you could do 'Mummy Yourname' and 'Mummy Hername' if you wanted.

My god daughter has a dad and a papa. It's what they called their own fathers and they were very keen on the names.

My dd calls us both mummy. If she needs to specify, she calls us by our names.

DP always refers to us as Mummy Ashley and Mummy Emma. DD herself never fell in line with that 😂

Thank you for the ideas, @CurlewKate, @ZacharinaQuack and @ashleysilver- I like the idea of sticking with Mummy for both, but using our names if she needs to specify.

We were once camping next to a family where their son, probably about nine, just shouted 'Mums' and whoever was closest came first.

I thought it was a lovely way of sharing the caring load equally, my name feels worn out sometimes.

Grin You say that but it also means you have no respite! You have to jump up at 'mums' just in case it's you!

We said we’d let our kid decide and he did. Call us Mummy (my name) and Mummy (her name). It’s perfect for us. Neither of us felt like Mama.
