Just that really.

Do you see it as ok for lesbian/bi women to use the word dyke, or would you still find it offensive?

I might use it jokingly amongst friends and I don't think that would be viewed as offensive but I can't see me ever having much occasion to do so.
I've been called it several times and, to be honest, even when I knew that the person meant to cause offense it didn't bother me THAT much. I knew that it was offensive but I just didn't feel offended, iyswim. I'd assume I was in a minority with that, though I know my girlfriend feels similarly.

I'd a sight rather 'dyke' than 'queer'.

I hear it used in contexts where it's jokey (eg. 'dykes on bikes' at Pride). I've also heard it used offensively by (presumably) straight men, but personally I don't find it stings because it's not been my experience it's used a lot.

Yes I’d say it was reclaimed years ago.

Madwife123 · 25/08/2020 15:32

I don’t mind it, often refer to my partner as ‘baby dyke’ jokingly.

nitsandwormsdodger · 25/08/2020 15:37

I see dyke as a sub section describing a look which I presume the woman is actively trying to achieve so not offensive in that context, offensive when intented to be

Rainonplain · 28/08/2020 08:01

Yup, fully reclaimed and okay for gay women to use but obvs not for straight people to use. Personally I don’t really like it but some women do.

Catwoman1985 · 28/08/2020 19:51

Yeah we use dyke and I don't mind the term at all.
