Hi,

We have a 4-week old daughter and live in Edinburgh; we are keen to meet up with other gay parents. Does anyone know of or is part of a group which meets regularly and welcomes new parents? We're looking for something informal - coffee and chat.

Thanks!

zebedeeboing · 26/06/2012 22:44

There's a group called rainbow families that meets through the LGBT centre for health and wellbeing, pm me if you want more details.

Hi all, just found this thread. Has anyone tried the group at the LGBT health centre or met up with anyone here? Our baby is due in 2 days! We'd love to have other gay parents around to meet up with both for us and for the sake of our baby. We live in the Hillside/ Leith area of Edinburgh and both work for charities. Give us a shout if anyone would like to arrange a few of us having a coffee or something, once this baby is out and we get over the initial shock!!

MoelFammau · 03/09/2012 03:29

Hi,

I'm a gay mum to a lovely 16mo puddle-hopping DD and am really wanting to hook up with other gay parents both male and female for walks and a bit of socialising (both myself and DD). If you also have a dog, that'd be perfect!

Please PM me if interested - I live in Glasgow Southside.

Thank you!

Hi there,

I went through my GP & Glasgow Royal Infirmary Assisted Conception Unit to have my gorgeous 5 month old baby boy by IUI. The sperm donor was selected from the European Sperm Bank which was the only part of the process we had to pay for. We were told the waiting list for UK donors is about 7 years after the HFEA brought in the legislation that donors now have to give their consent for their biological children to contact them when they are 18. The GRI were amazing, very supportive and efficient and I got pregnant on the 1st attempt.

The only sad part now is that my partner and I have recently split up, she is 14 years older than me and at 50 decided that she couldn't handle the responsibility of being a parent after all. I am heartbroken to say the least but I am determined to give my son the best life possible. I would defintely be up for any meetings or get togethers as after 8 years in a relationship I'm having to start all over again. Apologies for this turning into a saga...I only intended to share my experience of assisted conception!

MoelFammau · 03/09/2012 20:19

I'd be delighted to meet with you. PM me if this is something you'd be up for.

Thank you!

Hi, there is a lesbian & gay parent website at lesbiangayparents.ning.com where you can chat to others and we arrange events where you can meet up with other LGBT families. We are hosting the UK venue for International Family Equality Day too. It's free to join, no ties. :-)

I am a gay single mum from Ayrshire. I found this site today and it's good to know other gay mums.

HerrenaHarridan · 30/05/2013 19:46

Good gracious, I nearly started this thread months ago and chickened out!

It's great to know you all exist.

I just went to the rainbow families picnic last Saturday and every one was very lovely and welcoming without even a hint of cliqueyness

My dd is 16 months and loves other children!
Maybe we could arrange a meet up at the baby room in the museum on chambers st, if anyone else fancies it.

I am also about an hour from edinburgh (by bus because I keep failing my stupid driving test!) and as a lp to dd often feel very isolated.

There are quite a few lesbian focused groups in edinburgh but as many of then clash with bedtime they are just not an option for me Sad

I desperately want to go to lady birds book group, I'm on their mailing list and the books sound great!

The edinburgh meet is at a free fringe show by an edinburgh mnetter who is also a physio therapist (it's stand up)

She sold me when she explained part of her show involves a giant hand knitted vagina based on

How lovely to find this thread! I am a single parent to a 5 year-old boy and have been suppressing my gayness for a while now. I was out and proud until just before he was born but have sinced embraced the closet again (he is the amazing result of me trying men for a bit)! I'm only 28 and have been looking to try and get back into the community for a wee while. However, I have felt like I don't really belong because of being a young single parent and having had him with a guy. I am so pleased to see that there are other lesbian single mums out there too. Thank you, guys. It's really nice to know I'm not alone. :)

Hi everyone

I know it's been a while since the last post on here-just hoping on the of chance someone sees it. Does anyone have any info on, or has anyway been through egg swapping? My girlfriend and I are in Glasgow and would love to hear of any experiences or information people might have to share. Looking to get an idea of cost and how the process works. Anything would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Katiemck · 23/07/2015 08:27

Hi everyone! My partner and I had a wee boy in February. I got pregnant through IVF at a private clinic and I would be happy to share our experiences, just send me a wee message!
I would really like to get to know some other Mums and families so our son can grow up knowing other families like his own :)

Hi, my partner and I are just about to start our IUI treatment.. It would be great to hear from other people who have gone through the same already or are thinking of doing it, or are receiving treatment now! We live in Lothian in Scotland.

Missvicky1977 · 23/04/2016 11:33

Bit late to the party on this thread but I was wondering if you had success in hooking up with other gay parents/groups for socialising. I am In The Southside of Glasgow too and will myself be a parent soon Smile
