Being safe at night

I know it's a bit random but we don't live in a very inclusive place. Some cultural tensions, and some anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments. I love my child but I am terrified of them attracting a kicking or worse. They are vulnerable for other reasons and don't really get it. I want them to be free to go out like other young adults but this tends to be with a couple of girls.
What practical things can I do? They are identifiably queer.
Or just a virtual chin up?

When you say the area is anti-LGBTQ, is it somewhere with a large population of a certain religion?

To be fair, we moved from an area that was very anti LGBT and that was firmly non religious white British.

It's small town mentality plus some areas where there is a cultural anti lgbt stance. I'm more worried about what to do than why seeing as we can't move!

Are your fears rational? Is your child really less safe where you live than other cities?

OneFrenchEgg · 02/11/2023 06:43

I immagine they are rational in the context of anywhere which isn't very welcoming iyswim?

How old are they? Are there any other towns or cities nearby where they can go for a night out or whatever without it being as risky?
