Need Passport Help Please

Need to know if any MN'ers work or know someone who works in the passport agency because I have a problem.
I spoke to a woman from the passport agency on the phone and she said I shouldnt have a problem but I'm not so sure!

Basically I want a (UK) passport, I was born here, have my full birth certificate but I dont have my parents birth certificates or passport numbers. I know my mother was born here (it is stated on my B.C, no idea about my father).
I cant get their details AT ALL. The woman from the passport agency said if I attach a covering letter to explain I left home as a minor I should have no problems.
Will the fact I 'was' on my fathers passport (but not anymore) help or hinder matters?

You shouldn't have a problem. It might be best to book an appointment and ring a few more times to double check.

You should be fine. But do you know your parents' full names and dates (or even years/approximate years) of birth? If so then if they were born in the UK you could fairly easily get copies of their birth certificates to prove that.

Well the passport office have refused and said what I was told is wrong. Without mothers BC I am screwed.
I'm feeling pretty pissed off as none of this is my fault and the passport office dont care and they know the circumstances.
I've tried calling General Registrars Office but no one is answering.
I dont know what to do.

Do you know when approximately when your mother was born and her maiden name. Think the maiden name together with how old she was when you were born that should be on your birth certificate. If her age isn't on it do you belong to a local library that have computers if so go and use one and get up Ancestry UK and look up births for the years you think your mother may have been born. They will usually have a reference number alongside the entry anyhow make a note of the details. You can then apply for a copy of her birth certificate I have just asked DH and he said it is National Records Office and the cost is £7 or was up to 3 months ago and the certificate comes quite quickly through the post.

I hope that is some help the Passport Office can be so frustrating at times.

I am pleased you found out your mother's birth details. I hope it won't be too long till you get your passport. One word of advice when you send the birth certificates etc. to the Passport Office on the back of them in pencil write your name and address so if they become detached from the application, as apparently it happens quite often, they can send them back to you. I have always done that and advised a friend also and hers became detached but they were able to return them to her.
