tenant's right - can you put up curtain rail?

this is for a flat (not mine) where the blinds the landlord fitted are skimpy and let in too much light. The previous tenant took everything out of the flat that wasn't fixed down. There are some screwholes (painted over) but a few more might be needed.

Check your friend's lease, but I know my landlord is Ok with that kind of thing. The main thing they're concerned about is that the property is fit for the next tenant when you leave. Some landlords, however, are a little more precious.

I'd check with the landlord. Ours is good about stuff, but always wants to get 'his guys' to do it rather than letting us. We spoke to him yesterday about wanting a chain or extra lock on the front door (as toddler DS can get out by himself now with the locks as they are), and he's got someone coming round next week to do it.

the landlord is not helpful, therefore had hoped to just be able to just do it. The blinds that were fitted wouldn't even stay up, they are vertical slats that kept coming out of the bits of plastic that hold them. The landlord hasn't dealt with a water leak after several weeks, doubt they would fit curtain rail.

Oh, if he's a wank, just do it. He probably won't even notice.

suspect he will not only notice but insist it's removed and made good or the cost deducted from the deposit when they leave.
