have posted on another thread about the awful situation I have found myself in likelihood is that I will not be charged as I had evidence to prove what happened but I have read on certain threads and websites that the fact I was arrested will go against me for 12 years and may stop things like me being able to enter usa please tell me what to expect as I feel if this is true my career and life aS i KNOW IT IS OVER

I was once arrested for criminal damage after voluntarily attending the police station. I trashed an exes car (ex had broken into my house and trashed the place) so I drove my car into the side of his. I admitted it too. I was never charged and not even cautioned in the end because I simply said if he has me charged I want him charged with breaking and entering and criminal damage.

I was a lot younger then and without children I'd like to add. Anyway, I was training to be a teaching assistant at the time and have had many many CRB checks done - it does not appear at all. You have to be charged for anything to appear. Once YOU do have a conviction though the enhanced disclosure means that the police are contacted and someone there can write your whole life story on your CRB - this can include things you have just been suspected of. I know because my ex applied for one and it came back like an essay.

Vikkiville - as I've pointed out several times, you DON'T have to be charged for something to appear on a CRB check. Believe me, I do know what I'm talking about here.

There is a section in which the police can put any information they believe is relevant. That information will not necessarily appear on the version of the CRB check that you get - if, for example, you are a suspect in an ongoing investigation the police may not want to alert you to that fact.

The police are contacted for ANY enhanced CRB check - after all, if the applicant is going to be working with children and is currently under investigation for paedophile offences, that would be highly relevant.

What you did would almost certainly not be considered relevant and therefore would not appear on your CRB check. That doesn't mean that all arrests would be considered irrelevant. If you'd been arrested under suspicion of being involved in a paedophile ring, for example, but hadn't been prosecuted for lack of evidence, that information should appear on your CRB check.

By the way, even if your arrest appears on the version of the CRB check which goes to the LA, it would not prevent you working as a teaching assistant.
