Please please help me!

through no fault of my own i'm having major problems with RAC insurance

My yearly car insurance was up for renewal on 2/12

they sent out the quote....£610 which is fully comp, euro breakdown cover and lots of legal protection stuff. i was happy with this and you don't conatct them if your happy...it just automatically restarts.

4 days later a new certificate came through, the quote had gone up by £400, i immediately phoned and said do not start this please explain why it had gone up....they couldn't so over the next 6 weeks they tried to sort it out, unable to revert it back to original quote.

by the 21st of january i had had it...i phoned to say i can't cope with this everyday...i'm driving in europe soon i need an insurance document and that i would find insurance elsewhere...i did for £395

now RAC has taken £255 out of my bank account...without warning telling me the amount or date and what this amount covers.

i telephoned last night...they said because i cancelled the policy there were various charges.

i haven't authorised this payment...they didn't noltify me and i'm being financially penalised because of there administartive erros

i have phoned today and they are unable to help me

i have never had an accident, my car is for personal use and i've had a license for 16yrs

any advice or sympathy would be greatfully received!

If they made an error and you have the paperwork to prove it then they should waive any charges associated with the cancellation.

However, you will still have to pay the actual premium for the days cover they provided but, being as thought this is a renewal, it should be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

You need to check all your paperwork re cancellation, they usually advise that if the policy is cancelled they will collect any monies due under the ddm.
