How many is too many insurance claims?

I need to make an insurance claim for a smashed laptop ( thanks DS!) and I am really worried about it, as in september I had to make a claim for my bike, which was stolen.

Will they cancel my insurance? I've tried to get it fixed myself, but apparently it could cost about £200 and I can't really afford it ( I've only just saved the excess up!)

how long have you had the policy?

Read the small print of your policy.

TBH, as they are different claims (you've not had another bike stolen and it's not even another theft) there shouldn't be a problem. 2 claims isn't excessive.

We once had a bike stolen in two successive years of our policy. They didn't bat an eyelid.

Sorry, I posted and then disappeared!

I've had my policy since March this year, so not very long

Thankyou for your messages, just wasn't sure if it was a bit much claiming twice!

hmm - no idea. Tbh, I've never made an insurance claim!

But, I am inclined to think they would 'allow' you several claims closely spaced together if you had had the policy (and thus been 'paying in') for a long time.

No idea if two claims so close together from a fairly new policy holder would result in an increase, or other consequences.

There is so much fraud around insurance claims, that they are hyper-vigilant and I think that can negatively affect 'legitimate' claims.

Maybe someone who knows more about it will see this, and offer some useful information.

i never made a claim in 5 years, then i made a claim for accidental damage on my camera, new phone and handbag as a bottle of diet coke emptied itself inside my handbag..... the insurance company said it would make little difference to my premiums....

then a month later our flat was burgled in a big way...

when it came to renewing our insurance, premiums went up 3 fold to almost £1000!!
