Where can I find on which date I was caught speeding last year?

I'm organising new car insurance and I need to provide the date of a speeding offence last year. I know which month it was but have no idea which date and I don't have the letter any more. Help!

Is it not on your license?

Does it have the details on the endorsement on your driving license?

Failing that I'd just put the month of the offence on the form, if it's a paper form not an online one.

No, I'm really confused now. I did one of those speed awareness courses instead of getting points and I'm wondering now if that means it's irrelevant for insurance purposes. Does anyone know?

I've been trying to put just the month in, but it won't accept it.

The offence will still be relevant to the insurance company, don't ignore it. If you are trying to complete an online form, call the insurance company and ask their advice about what date to put on the form.

silly me, that will be the course date, did you not keep any of the paperwork?

Call the traffic unit of the area where you did the course, not the course provider as they don't have the offence details.

Okay. I can't find the paperwork. Have been trying to get through to the DVLA but presumably they'd only know if my licence had been amended?

Ummm I did one of those courses in exchange for NOT having the points. I checked with the instructor - you do not have to tell the insurance company. That's the purpose of the course , to educate so you don't do it again and to svae the points from going onto your license.

That's what I thought. It was more expensive than the fine for that reason iirc. But I will check.

In case it's useful to anyone else, I just rang DVLA and I don't have any points.
