enhanced CRB check and cautions

Hi all,
I know someone was talking about this quite recently but my circumstances are slightly different.

I am applying to a health course that would lead to a job working with all sorts - vulnerable adults/children

I received a police caution 16 years ago (aged 12) for stealing 2 or 3 chocolate bars from the local shop. I'm not sure whther i received a formal caution or just a police warning. I was taken to the police station and fingerprinted etc and my dad had to come and xollect me.

This seems utterly ridiculous to me, even as I write it. But that's what happened.

Do I need to declare this before my CRB check? It was obviosly not a major offence and would not have any impact on my career, and it was a long time ago, so may be spent.

I have had a mooch through google but can't seem to find a definite answer.

juvenile cautions are wiped I think at the age of 18?

Depends what the class of offence is SixtyFootDoll - if you murder people it goes on a bit longer I think. Anyway that doc has the specific years. I had no idea that for adults your criminal conviction lasts till 100 years after you did it!!!!

You can just imagine 'happy 118th birthday grandad and look I got you an enhanced CRB form now you are officially no longer a crim'.

thanksfor the replies. I was just having a nosey at a document ion the CRB website about employing ex-offenders (am I an ex-offender?)
it had a list of convictions which are revealed on a standard and enhanced CRB check. The standard form includes all convictions, cautions and formal warnings. The enhanced also inclusdes police information that may not be related to an actual charge (eg. suspected gang member, or whathaveyou)

I had a standard CRB check last year when i was working in a school and it came out clear. do you think this means I'll be ok?

Although to bre fair, I think there is a mildly tenuous link between stealing chocolate bars and working as a dietician!

Who has more than one birthday? Except the Queen, of course...

It should be fine. However as someone who actually manages this process for an organisation, I personally would have a quiet word with the representative of your employer and explain first just in case.

Having something come up on an eCRB is not actually a bar to working with kids in some cases - something like this wouldn't probably be a dealbreaker, providing it was explained, long ago and not stealing Twix bars to bribe little kids to get in your car for example

I'm currently processing a load of CRB checks at work for engineers to do maintenace work in schools. I know that some will be rather interesting when they come but it won't stop them working there as long as it is nothing against children.
