I've lost my driving license and I may have a speeding fine coming my way - is that likely to be a problem?

I don't understand; a problem for what? Do you mean you were driving without a licence?

You normally have to return the paper part of your licence (or all of it if you have the old kind) to have the points written onto it. I guess if you genuinely don't have it, they'll probably make you apply for a new one and put them onto that?

I wasn't driving without a license, I just haven't seen it for a while (it was the paper one) so it may be lost.

I will apply for a new one and then if I get points I will get them put onto that.

Yes you do need to send it to them to put the points on so I'd get a new one asap as not paying the fine within 2 weeks or whatever means it goes up

if oyu dont accept the fixed penalty ( for generally under 20 mph over a fast speed and 10 over a slow speed)
you get summonsed and are often charged costs.

then if you dont reply to that you are done for failure to provide info as to identity of driver ( out of which there are many a loophole ) and you can be fined a lot more

Hmm. Just looked it up online and apparently I have 28 days to reply from when (and if) i get a fine.

Hopefully that's enough time for them to turn round a replacement license

well a mate of mine thought so, didnt get it in time, had to reapply , meanwhile got a summons for NOT accepting the Fp when then two licences arrived.

I just went through the Gvt gateway thingy online and came to the bit where it asks about health...there is a q about 'serious psychiatric problems or mental illness' and I don't know if having long term depression (moderate/severe on Gp's quiz thing) counts as severe mental illness. I don't want to be fined 5 grand if they search my medical records.

What would you put? I've never been sectioned or attempted to take my own life for example. Never taken anti depressants either actually. Am just a miserable bastard but do get benefits related to it.
