I want to buy my leasehold but don’t know where to start and need advice

Hi all, I’m hoping to get some contacts for solicitors who have experience in leasehold matters, specifically collective enfranchisement. And even more specifically, how buying a freehold may interact with current plans for major works at (what I suspect are) grotesquely inflated costs. My flat is in London and my freeholder is Hyde in case that matters. Thanks for any suggestion/advice/contact. I feel sick to my stomach at what leaseholders are put through in this ludicrous system.

The Leaseholder Advisory Service is helpful: https://www.lease-advice.org/buying-and-selling/buying-the-freehold/buying-the-freehold-flats/

You’ll need to check that you meet the eligibility criteria and have the support of at least 50% of your fellow leaseholders.

ETA: there are complexities if major works you’ve received notice of are contracted or completed before the transfer completes, all leaseholders would remain liable for their share in that instance.

I fairly recently used Sara Bensusan at Peter Brown & Co for a lease extension on my late sister's flat which I was selling as executor. She also did the conveyancing. Sara handled some potentially tricky issues with the co-freeholder with skill and diplomacy.
