Can I remove plants on a shared access path legally?

Am I allowed to trim back overgrown foliage on a shared access path which goes through my neighbours property? Anyone know the legal implications (if any) if I did this?

We have the same layout as you OP. The very first house on the row has caused no end of issues with dog shit, bikes, chairs, basically everything and anything dumped on the shared path. Anytime any of us in the next 5 houses want to get through, we have to shift all their shite out the way.
Just be careful you don't cause yourself an extra problem. Yes they need to keep the area clear and in good repair, but when one of our neighbours had someone look into the problem, it became clear the right of access is to the garden for things like bins and boundry repairs, not for permanent access to our homes using a back door like a front door.
