Online wills?

My partner and I live together but do not jointly own a property - we each have one - and we have recently had a baby so need to do our wills which should be reasonably straightforward. He is reluctant to pay thousands for a solicitor to do one whereas I would like the peace of mind that they are accurate. He has been looking into online wills and thinks these are a better option and they have good reviews etc - does anyone have experience of these?

How much are solicitor's fees as a percentage of the value of your house?

Who is going to look after your minor child if you both get hit by a bus? Who is going to look after your minor child's money? How much is that worth to you?

Online wills are for cheapskates who usually have no perception of the issues involved. You?

Wills don’t cost thousands £. They really don’t and it’s so important. On line doesn’t allow you to talk about it effectively.

We used Octopus Legacy which was done online but then they send a solicitor out to run through the particulars- it was more reasonable than using a local solicitor and very easy to do. We did pay more as we chose not to have mirror wills but it could have been much cheaper if we had opted for a standard will
