Hi,
I purchased a second hand car in February, from a small local garage. The car was £15,000. Within a week, the engine management light came on. To be fair, the garage eventually replaced an expensive part, although it took about 8 weeks of to-ing, fro-ing, chasing emails and phone calls.
10 days after this work was completed, the car went into limp mode on the motorway. We decided to take it to our regular mechanic, although we had to wait a couple of weeks until he could fit us in. We did not drive the car during this time.
He's had the car for two weeks, doing diagnostics and various tests. He's basically said it looks like another major part needs replacing and that might not even solve the problem. He has warned us it could be a money pit.
I want to reject the car. It's been off the road more than it's been on since I bought it. I don't want to waste any more time or money on it, it's so stressful. According to consumer rights, I can still do this as I have owned it for less than 6 months.
Last week, I put this in an email to the garage. The email has been completely ignored.
What do I do now? Do I need a solicitor? Please help. Any advice welcome. Thank you
