Hi all. I have just instructed a solicitor to write a letter before action to my neighbour. I won't say why because it will be outing but this has been an ongoing issue where they have neglected to acknowledge or repair something with is causing damage to my property. Unfortunately as this has been going on for quite some time (think over 18months but less than 36) I have had no choice.

Just feeling nervous!

It can be so difficult when a neighbour does not consider others nearby.
I hope you get it sorted out quickly now..

Is there anything specific making you nervous, OP, or just the unknown / feeling like it’s a big step? If there is, there may be people on the board who can give you some comfort.

Please consider meditation during this process. Could help with nipping any animosity in the bud if it can be resolved effectively and on relatively good terms. Good luck, hope you get a resolution

I think it is the big step of no going back now.

It won't work they ignore all correspondence. It has been going on for years. I did not want to go down this route but unfortunately my hand has been forced.

Now that the solicitor is involved, could they suggest this to them? It would be beneficial to them as mediation in comparison is less expensive than solicitors and they might actually be open to it once they know you’re at the stage of instructing solicitors. Either way, good luck OP, I hope it’s resolved quickly
