Tenants in common to joint tenants

DH and I currently own our home as tenants in common. We now want to change to joint tenants, mainly to make things easier when one of us dies. I think we will need a solicitor for this? Could anyone give me a ball park figure for the cost to do so?

There is no mortgage.

Eta: we are in Wales.

TIA!

It depends, you may not need a solicitor, a conveyancer would be able to do it as well.

The gov.uk website here explains what you need to do:

"...mainly to make things easier when one of us dies"

The only real difference is that the surviving spouse would have to apply for probate.

Joint property ownership

Check if you're a joint tenant or tenants in common. Change from joint tenants to tenants in common, or tenants in common to joint tenants
