IS THIS TENANCY LETTER REAL OR AM I BEING SCAMMED???? Please help!!

I tell joint tenants on first march I want to leave joint tenancy, get this letter saying from 4th march removed. No return address.

is it really done so quickly. Without having to sign anything?

the agency on letter is temporarily closed and no one answering phone.

I google agent on letter, he works in different agency. Says it’s real, I’ve been removed.

when I ask for landlords contact details he is refusing to give them to me.

(quick backstory. Don’t live in property but still on tenancy agreement. Find out my joint tenants have history of scamming, fraud, bribes abroad, and even fake marriage for citizenship. I also found out from someone they lied to person he is no longer on tenancy and then left him with debt. I asked them to remove me, they stalled for a year landlord is away, not answering etc. now I asked more firmly I get this)

they control all communication and refuse to give me agency or landlord details. They are also refusing to send the tenancy agreement.

am I being paranoid to think this could been fake?

that they could of paid this guy off to lie and make this letter?

what should I do.

Searching companies house would tell you who owns the letting agency and should give addresses of directors so you could write to them

You wanted removed and have been removed. Make sure you aren't on any other bills and dont pay any money for rent.

I think I saw your pp it all sounds dodgy. Your council will have a register of landlords look up the one associated with the property and you’ll have their name/ details.

Contact them directly. I gave zero idea why you wouldn’t have kept a copy of original tenancy agreement.

shouldn't the letter you've been sent at least refer to the date you signed the agreement or at best enclose a copy?

This is you with your mother actually the fraudulent joint tenant so your uncle could rent the place, and your uncle illegally subletting, isn’t it? You’ve been told literally hundreds of times the you need to get the Land Registry details and contact the landlord but you’re still dealing with all the people you consider to be fraudulent. Why aren’t you taking the advice you keep coming here for?

I am in no doubt from the OP’s previous posts that that letter is complete made up nonsense.

On this note I did have a peek and this company incorporated in August 2025, sole director everything registered to a virtual office space in London including their mailing address. I’d definitely do a bit more digging if I were you OP!

I’m afraid I don’t believe that - it’s been a matter of a few days since you last posted, nowhere near long enough for you to have sent a letter and had it returned to sender, Royal Mail just aren’t that fast, especially with an RTS. There is a good reason you haven’t, and that’s because you know your mother (or as I suspected, you, apparently confirmed by this post) helped someone defraud the landlord by lying that you were a joint tenant, and you are worried about the repercussions. Between you all you’ve woven a very tangled web here.

I posted on 3rd march. That was LAST WEEK

Around 4th/5th/6th march my mom sends him next day before 1pm delivery, one you have to sign for.

on the letter I write my phone number, ask him to call me.

If I get a phone call from someone living there, they say this person doesn’t live here

No shit I know it’s fraud and I’m scared of reprocussions!!!! That’s literally what I said in my posts, why are you acting like it’s some grand mystery you solved????

and funny you think it’s me, I was 13 in 2019, I don’t think 13 year olds can sign agreements like that!!!

there would be even worse reprocussions if she doesn’t leave this tenancy, like debts, unpaid rent, so why the hell would I not contact the landlord??? She’s screwed either way

there would be less repercussions if she just gets landlord details and acts like she lived there and leaves, so why the hell would I not want that???

I’ve been panicking trying to help my stupid mother who once again gets herself in some mess.

Firstly there is no legal process to have a name removed from the tenancy although it's a common enough mistake and misconception that it can be done.

A joint tenant giving notice outside the fixed period ends the tenancy for all tenants. So what should be done is the tenancy terminated at the point the tenancy ends in accordance with the notice, and a new tenancy issued to the remaining tenants. If this is not done, a new tenancy is implied for the remaining occupiers.

Providing the notice given is outside of the fixed term it is valid. There should be no further liability for the tenant who gave notice.

If inside the fixed term, the notice is invalid because a joint tenant cannot give notice to take effect within the fixed term. It would be invalid even if the landlord accepted it.

However if within the fixed term, there is a concept of promissory estoppel which means the tenant is relying on the letter accepting the notice. Whether that would be enough of a defence to a claim for outstanding debt in the future I'm unsure.

All of this changes at the rra on 1st May and so notice given now could take effect after 1st May and be valid.

There's a lot going on here which is interesting. I'd stop worrying about it and move on. That letter probably releases the person from any liability. Probably in the landlords eyes anyway.
