ACAS: can you describe the types of conversation and how it went?

Employment: Been reading online about how ACAS is actually a bit rubbish. I’m a claimant making a discrimination claim (because sadly my employer will not respond to any email or pre-settlements). I’ve submitted my ACAS form and I’m just curious to know what the kind of back-and-forth looked like for you? I obviously want to settle but don’t want to look too desperate. Do you remember what kind of questions they ask you?

ACAS will simply pass messages back and forth between you and the employer in a bid to resolve the issue.

If your employer chooses not to engage, they will issue an Early Conciliation Certificate which means you can then complete an ET1 form online and make a tribunal claim.

Are you a trade union member? They will often help with this. I strongly recommend you don’t try to do it yourself without legal advice.

Hello, no I’m not a trade union member. I know that the employer is likely to just not engage and I will get ET1, which I’m okay with. I was just wondering what the colour of those conversations usually look like with ACAS. for example, is it just about each party’s appetite for settling or did they go into the detail details of the case?
