Communal garden woes

Handrearedmagpie · 25/08/2025 19:41

We have a communal garden, shared with 7 neighbours. 2 neighbours want to put a shed in the garden but have refused to let us replace the old swing that was previously there, saying no permanent structures. So can they then put a shed up? The title deeds are useless and just say it is a drying green with no further details.

what do they base their "no permanent structures" on and does this mean they will take the shed home with them every night?

Get a metal swing that doesn't need to be concreted in?

Is there enough space for a swing and a shed? Then everyone could get what they want (& you’ll have use of a communal shed which will no doubt come in handy!)

Oh no, it’ll strictly be their shed, not communal.

I know! I should have added that they are bat shit crazy.

Yes, but they are refusing to allow me to put a swing up.

Use string to mark out their corner where the shed will go and give yourself a space for a swing...
Or it's no shed imo.

So what about the other 4 neighbours?

Handrearedmagpie · 26/08/2025 21:08

Other neighbours all fine with it!

Do they need unanimous consent? If so, don't give it unless they allow your swing. Petty can work both ways.

Also - You say there's nothing in your deeds, so where have your neighbours got the 'no permanent structures' rule from?
