Social services assessment

Hello, my partner is currently in prison and possibly due to come out. I have been contacted by social services to ask me to do a Claire's Law enquiry with the Police. Also asked me to check if I consent to social services assessment for my child. What does this involve and what can I expect from this?

They’re assessing your ability to parent and to put your children’s needs above your own.
Tbh I’m not surprised they’re doing an assessment if you’re choosing to expose your children to a criminal.

A bit harsh given you don't know what the crime is.

You need to co-operate with what SS are asking. So yes, you need to contact the police for a Claire's Law disclosure and agree to the assessment. They want to be sure that you are willing to prioritise your children, and they are safe. It depends also why your partner is in prison. If they are suggesting a Claire's Law disclosure, then I am assuming he's probably in prison for possible violence.

Since OP is being advised to invoke Clare's Law, that strongly suggests he has a history of domestic abuse or domestic violence.
