CoOp Probate

A relative passed away recently. One of the will executors still lives in the property. CoOp Probate have told the family they need to pay fees upfront. Does anyone know why they would have to pay fees before? I had 2 other relatives use CoOp Probate and the fees were taken out at the end. The family are stressed as they don’t have the money beforehand for fees. They feel let down by CoOp.

Be very very of the coop probate I worked in a similar area and their reviews are very very bad. Check coop legal services Facebook probate page, they use mostly call centre untrained agents for their probate job. Salesman to scare families into their expensive services. Check out their reviews on trust pilot the ones that are 1 or 2 star.

Is it a very complicated estate?

It is very easy to do probate yourself. Much quicker and of course, cheaper.

Unless the estate is very complicated then obtaining probate is usually a very straightforward process indeed and doesn't need legal advice.

Are Coop Probate named as one of the executors?

There is a very straight forward guide on the gov.uk website about how to do probate yourself:
