Fraser & Fraser letter

Hi, has anyone ever been contacted by Fraser & Fraser about being a beneficiary in a will?
DP recieved a huge letter, pages and pages long with details of a man who passed away. Doesn't recognise the name but isn't sure of most of his family from his mother's side and she has passed. It claims he may be a beneficiary in this person's will.

Obviously thought it was a scam but all numbers/address etc match that is on their website. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Have you never seen Heir Hunters? That was Fraser and Fraser.

Yes, my father was contacted by them about 15 years ago. They said that a relation had died without leaving a will. It turned out to be his aunt who had died childless.

The only trouble is that the aunt had eight siblings, each of whom inherited an equal share of the estate. If any of the siblings had already died (all of them were actually dead by then, she was the last remaining of that generation) then the Intestacy laws say that the children of the siblings inherit in their place.

So one eighth (12.5%) was left to my dad's mother. Since she had already died, under the Intestacy Rules this is then split equally between her own children.

My dad was one of six children. So, 12.5% divided by six is 2.08%. My dad ended up getting about £5k. This would imply that the total estate would be worth more than £100k (especially as Fraser & Fraser take quite a big chunk for fees).

Thanks, so it's most likely genuine?

His grandparents died when he was very young & his mother had alot of mental health issues so doesn't know much about his family on her side.

I worked with Charlie Cullum (aka Carl von Eudeni) whose estate was subject of an heir hunters programme.

An interesting watch.

I would say that it most probably is.

Depending on ages (is there any of his grandparents generation still alive?) this man who has died could be a brother or a cousin of either his grandparents or his parents.

Yes genuine. Dad had one years ago.

Billybagpuss · 20/06/2025 07:00

PS if you know the details of who it is which they don’t usually tell you up front you can do the claim yourself and not pay f&f their 25%

Yep. My dad. We immediately thought it was a scam. 18 months later and he got £10k.

Some super distant relative with a house she owned outright. Him and his cousins were the beneficiaries if I remember correctly.

Its legit. But never as much money as you think!

I’d be happy with a random £10k dropping in my account that I had no idea was coming!

I had one with my sister. Genuine! Due to other family members it wasn’t a large amount. But definitely genuine. Get it answered!
