Distribution of estate timeframes

Hi,
I have been fortunate enough to be given a cash gift in a will.
Probate granted on 4th June.
No debt, no house to sell- just a few accounts to close.

when will I likely receive this?

solicitor has been very unhelpful as has the executor.

many thanks

Generally, executors have a year to do the administration, after which the estate is distributed. This is known as "the executor's year". So if it's less than a year since the death then you can't really chase it up.

@DcIu The solicitor that dealt with my Dads estate said that they advise waiting six months after probate to see if anyone comes forward to make a claim on the estate but it was up to us as executors of the will if we wanted the funds distributed as soon as everything had been dealt with.

Thanks @stopringingme
there is no debt - she was insanely organised and the executor had everything in order- I think she was actually owed money 😂

I work in this area , once probate has been granted you then have to send that to the banks/assets . They normally then send out forms to fill out to close accounts . once they are returned they usually pay out within a few weeks . Once cash is in , we will then make distribution to beneficiaries. I'd say a couple of months , but it depends on how fast the solicitors are working on it .
