Hi,
I have a quick careers question and struggling where to start and wondered if a private client solicitors may be able to help me please wiyh some pointers?

I am a non-practising solicitor and formerly worked for a large commercial law firm. I have taken a few years out to raise children and care for family members. I have volunteered during this time as a trustee for an educational setting, chair of PTA, a treasurer role and also volunteered with CAB. I would like to get back into practice but realise I can’t just step back in. But I’d like to start afresh as a private client solicitor as this is where I feel my personal skillset lies. I have a tiny bit of personal experience setting up LPAs for family and deals wiyh two deceased relatives’ estates (probate and IHT etc).

I wonder if any of you could give me a pointer of a course or accreditation that may help? I’m going to contact local firms too but am trying to arm myself with research first! I have thought about contacting the uni where I did my LPC to see if it’s possible to re-do the private client modules (but obviously this will be at a cost).

Thank you for reading, I’d be grateful for any thoughts or tips or feedback of others’ experiences?

thank you x

Have a look at the STEP course (Society for Trusts and Estates Practitioners)

Thank you - I’ve looked at this but I thought you had to be an experienced practitioner to apply? I’ll have another look?

Another recommendation to look at what STEP can offer
