Hi,

I’ve been going through the process of a claim for hearing loss from my time in the military, the solicitors that dealt with this were on a no win no fee basis. I got an email with a settlement last week which I accepted. On the email it had the total amount for the claim, and a breakdown of what I would receive after deducting the their fees. Today I logged onto my online banking and found out that I have been paid the full amount of the claim from a claims management company I’ve never heard of. I assumed I would be paid from the solicitors dealing with my case minus their deductions as stated in the settlement agreement, but no I have been paid the full amount with no charges. Am I expected to call the solicitors and pay them the fees? This seems unusual as I assumed it would automatically be deducted from me.

Hi OP
I've got a hearing claim in as well so it's good to hear (no pun intended) that some are being settled by MOD.
As for your question I don't know the answer but I'd just leave the money where it is and contact your claims team to ask what they need you to do.
Can I ask you how long your claim actually took (and was it worth it).

Hi thanks for the reply,

Yes I would definitely say it’s worth it. Obviously each individual case is different. But I was happy with the settlement I was offered. I had the option to turn down the offer and go to court but that would have made a lengthy process a lot longer and obviously you then have the chance of not winning and walking away with nothing. So I was happy to accept the final settlement they offered. The whole process from first contact with solicitors to pay out was just short of 2 years.
