Son's arrest, what to expect.

My 20 year old son was arrested over a week ago, his girlfriend has made accusations against him. He was held in a police cell for almost 24 hours. He was released without charge but with restrictions about contacting the gf.

He says the accusations are false and has cooperated with the police, he handed his phone over as soon as asked for example.
He's never been in trouble before, not school or college, he has a small group of supportive friends.
She is his first girlfriend. He says she has done similar to an ex of hers.
He has a solicitor who has told him he should get a letter explaining what happens next. There's been no letter or any other communication since he left the police. He's contacted his solicitor trying to get more info but nothing is forthcoming.
My question is why this is taking so long? What he is accused of happened in her house so there's no CCTV to look at. There's his word / her word and arguments on the phone.

Firstly, than you to all sending supportive messages, it was a very difficult time.

Secondly, no real update. He stuck to the bail conditions which were extended for 9 months and then he was released under investigation. He was asked to see the investigating officer at about the 9 month mark but then told there was no need (30 mins before the appt).
In short he was arrested a year ago, kept in a cell for almost 24 hours, questioned for less than an hour and his phone taken off him. Over a year later not much has changed.

@Constantanxiety25 I understand your frustration. We are now 18 months in. No further action since the day he was arrested.

My son was in a similar position several months ago. He was arrested as he was meeting friends and hauled off to a local police station where he was kept for several hours. He was eventually interviewed by a police officer where he was told his ex had accused him of domestic violence amongst several other things. He was able to show the officer the literally hundreds of abusive texts he had received from his ex including threats that she was going to contact the police and make accusations. He also had emails and messages on his phone to and from his solicitor who was dealing with his divorce. My son was lucky because he was immediately released without charge.

I am horrified to read about the experiences related by crisismode and constant anxiety25. My son's experience was bad enough and he was extremely upset and angry at the time. Why is there no comeback on the people that make these horrible , and very serious accusations? My son's life could have been ruined. I sincerely hope the sons of crisis mode and constant anxiety25 get a resolution very soon.

Happened to my relative and took 2 months for NFA.
