Landlord evict due to accident

Can my landlord evict me due to an accident.

I have an automatic car and had an accident yesterday I thought it was in drive but I must have knocked it into reverse. Anyways the car went flying back and into the garage, luckily the garage structure is ok but the door is in bad condition as is my car. I completly freaked out and I think ended with one fort on each peddle and how I didn’t go through the back I don’t know

my car is being done through the isnhesnve and they have said he can claim for a new garage doors, I’ve also said I’ll replace it if needed. Not sure how but I will.

anyways I am now really worried I am going to be evicted due to a genuine accident. I haven’t lied, I’ve been honest with the letting agency etc. I just can’t afford to lose mine and the kids house

Does the LL have previous form for being unreasonable? Otherwise why would you think he would evict you when he won’t be out of pocket due to your accident?

No he doesn’t, but I have a huge dip in my board on the landing and he’s saying is not a issue when it has got worse so I’ve asked letting agency to chase that the other week.

I mean he’s normally really good

If you pay your rent & are generally a good tennant he will want to keep you. Also I think it's much harder to evict now than 'i want my house back'.

He however, is a bit of a shitty landlord if he won't look at structural issues.

I have been here 2 years, never missed rent. Even paid first 6 months upfront due to the fact I was in a Iva because of a ex partner so he has been fair I just worry about these things and it sets my anxiety off. Letting agent wasn’t there today so have to wait until tomorrow

I've been a landlord and honestly, if you were a reliable tenant, you were covering the cost of the damage/work to put it right and I was getting a shiny new new garage door... Eviction wouldn't even cross my mind.

(But I would have got your landing floor sorted)

@BadBerlin thank you. As I said either my insurance or I will cover the cost. Last year I actually replaced all the springs on it as it was broken so kinda needs a new one 😂
