Hi I need some advice I recieved a speeding fine back in September I was doing 42 mph in a 30 mph zone. I paid the £100 fine on the 11tb October and assumed that was it done I've now received another letter with a single justice procedure notice stating that I will need to enter a plea and attend court. It was me driving so I take responsibility but om the statement it said a conditional offer was sent to me on the 17th October (which I never recieved) I was in the process of moving homes and had a mail redirection in place so I don't know if it's got lost in transit but I just need some advice before I respond because I believe it shouldn't of got to this stage as the middle stage was missed should I complete the notice and explain this or is it pointless?

The conditional offer is a Fixed Penalty Notice. It sounds like you may have jumped the gun and paid the fine too early, which has messed up the system. However, if you already had an FPN, that was the conditional offer. You need to ring them and establish exactly what has happened. If they have definitely received the fine, they should add 3 points to your licence and that should be the end of it.

When you paid the fine did you also return your licence to the DVLA for the points? If not then it will automatically move on to the court hearing as it will be treated as if you haven’t responded (you will get a refund of the fine). This is pretty common and can be sorted out - try to ring the court.

Silly question but there are no contact details on the letter to get hold of anyone would you happen to know where I can find a number?

Is it from a specific court house? If so then there should be an email address/phone number if you google. Otherwise I would fill out the SJP notice with as much detail as you can so that the magistrate can review it.
