Time to hear

I need some advice about the procedure in Scotland.
I had a very frightening and worrying thing happen last week. My wife fell as she got from her stairlift to her Zimmer and ended up in a twisted position on the floor.
I moved her so she was lying comfortably, and she screamed at me as it was painful. ( She is waiting to see a lymphoedema specialist).
The doorbell rang, I opened the door and two policemen pushed their way in, one put handcuffs on me and the other went upstairs. Four more police arrived. It seems that a neighbour heard my wife scream and called them.

The police called the care company who sent two carers to look after her while I was taken to a police station where I was fingerprinted and then given a lift back home.
As far as I can remember I was not charged with anything, but I was so shocked and confused I am not certain.
Does anyone know how long things take. I asked one of the police and he said a report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. How long before I hear from them?I hope they realise it was a misunderstanding. The carers now say to my wife not to yell while they change her.

According to statistics published by the Scottish government, the average time from an offence to the case being closed when the Procurator Fiscal decides that no action should be taken is around 6-9 months. However, some cases take over 2 years, so I'm afraid you may have a long wait.
