CAO for older children

Just wondering if anybody has any experiences they could share if nothing else just to make me feel im not alone and this could be ok! Our children’s grandparents had a CAO granted when our children were little (it’s beyond me how they even got this and anybody we’ve dealt with since has always said how did they even get that far but it was granted and we had to get on with it ) our children were never happy with the arrangements of it and wanted to change it to better suit themselves. So we applied to vary the order thinking it was a positive that we could better contact for the children. Well grandparents instructed their barrister to stop us varying the order at all costs as they wanted it to stay exactly as it was, the judge asked grandparents to submit some particular information and this was over 2 years ago now, they never submitted anything, have made absolutely no attempt to keep in touch with the children nothing. And then we get a solicitors letter stating they are applying to the courts for access to their grandchildren as we the parents are preventing access, honestly I can’t even work out how these peoples minds work. So are they likely to get a new order for a now 13 and almost 16 year old? One says they don’t want to see them because they’re boring and one maybe would be happy for occasional meet ups but we know this will be considerably less than grandparents are hoping for

Why would they have even needed to go to Court to see your children? Why did you prevent it?

They will fail. Don't worry.

We never did prevent them from seeing the children. Grandmother kicked off numerous times in front of our toddler at the time, broke the glass in our front door on one occasion and police had to be called to remove her from near our house on another. They were told either behave in front of our child or don’t come to our house, we didn’t see them again for around 3 years and then the first solicitor letter from them arrived again saying they were applying for access due to being prevented from seeing the now 2 children

The Court will take the children's voices seriously. The GPS must have more money than sense to start proceedings now.
