Unsolicited goods; how long do I give the company to collect?

I received a large box of merchandise addressed to me (correct name & address). I was able to work out where it should be going and phoned to ask them to pick it up. I was told that the manager would phone the following day - no contact. I waited for another day but still no contact so I sent the CAB template unsolicited goods letter by email to the head of customer services of the company; this gives them 14 days to arrange for collection after which the items would be mine. It is now a week since I sent the email and 9 days since the delivery. If I continue to hear nothing, do I keep nagging them to collect, or do I assume the goods are mine? I’m rather annoyed actually that it’s me doing all the running here and there’s no acknowledgement from their side. Are the goods, in fact, legally unsolicited since it’s obviously a mistake that I received the box. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Can they be returned to sender?

Not without me doing even more work to try to track down their address. This is why I contacted them by phone and email.

It’s not your job to nag them to read emails/make a decision. They sent unsolicited goods. You informed them and gave them a reasonable deadline to collect. If they don’t act on that in the next 7 days that is their fault, not yours.

Hope it’s nice things worth having!

It’s also not your job to store things indefinitely they send to your house by mistake.

Must admit, it’s a large box in a small room, so rather annoying - DH keeps forgetting it’s there and trips over it. Unfortunately none of the stuff is my style, but our local charity shops would do well if it comes to this.

Legally the unsolicited goods already belong to you, so you can do with them as you wish.

They definitely couldn’t argue down the line that it was a mistake, so not unsolicited? I’ve never had dealings with this company and the box had all my details on the address label but some websites say it’s very unusual for a delivery truly to be unsolicited; they are almost always mistakes.

Honestly they have probably got the sender to send them more products so at the end of the deadline chuck it at the charity shop no second chance
