Furlough fraud

I think my ex boss committed furlough fraud by falsely saying I was on furlough when I wasn't.

I didn't notice it at the time but having to go over some old bank statements for something else entirely and I noticed in April 2020 my monthly salary was paid "ex-companies nameFLOUGHAPR" then there is the payment which was less than usual but then a second payment "ex-companies name" (which is the usual thing I saw on my bank statements) topping me up to my normal wage.

I remember at the time my boss banging on about furlough fraud and how 'everyone had their nose in the trough' but he was a prick so didn't think much of it.
Also around this time I was told we were switching payroll companies and that payslips weren't available (probably why I missed seeing the furlough payment)
I think this is not true, but when I asked again for my wage slip I was told it was physically given to me (printed out, which I've never had before, it's always been on a portal I log into) and the payroll company has lost all records.

I didn't pursue it at the time (small company, toxic culture) but I've recently left and seeing my bank account has reminded me about all the red flags.

Can I report this? It's not big money at all, but was obviously fraud and I imagine my boss did it to all staff (some were put on furlough) the rest of us worked twice as hard to cover them because business did very well during covid.

HMRC is probably the best place to report to

Bit worried I'll get in trouble because I didn't spot it earlier

Speak to HMRC and explain it as you have here, they'll take it from there.

You haven't done anything wrong, so you shouldn't be in any trouble.
