Deed poll - conflicting instructions!

DD wants to change her name officially (has used her new name for years, and if it’s not changed now then exam certs etc will all be in the name that isn’t used any more)

Followed all the daunting instructions on the .gov website which involve witnesses and déclarants and commissioners of oaths and have all that paperwork together.

BUT then found that the council register office can do it, if I can turn up w a witness and some papers, tomorrow. They’ll do multiple copies of the deed poll too, which the .gov thing doesn’t say anything about.

Both ways are a bit of a hassle. Both involve asking favours. Any reason to go w one not another?

Not sure what the council registry office would do, but you don't need an enrolled deed poll. A simple change of name deed is all you need and is completely free. However, if she is under 16 it only has effect if everyone with parental responsibility agrees to the change of name (this also applies to deed polls).
