Name change for 2 year old

My daughter is 2 at the end of the year and we want to change her middle name. Truthfully, we've never liked the name and went with it because it sounded good with her first name. My partner and I are both fully onboard.

I've gone to fill in the forms today for Deed Poll today and noted that I need to have a solicitor, and I've become very confused on what I actually need to do. From what I understand we can only do enrolled as she is under 18. She does not hold a passport.

Can anyone breakdown the steps in simple terms, or recommend an agency that will handle it? I don't want to be paying £100's if it's something simple I can do myself.

It's a middle name - does it really matter?
Middle names rarely get used.
(Sorry I know that's not what you asked)

Bear in mind that if you do change it, your child will still have an entire lifetime of having to declare it. With so much data now online it will be much harder than in the past to just forget the unwanted name. I would just not bother. It's a middle name.

I entirely agree. I state my middle name only when required to submit my full name but even my NHS stuff now uses only my first and last names on prescriptions etc.

Thanks for the responses, completely understand the opinions but this is something we have considered and want to go ahead with for our own reasons.

if anyone has any advice on a name change rather than views on middle names I would appriciate the help.

You do not need an enrolled deed poll. A simple change of name deed will be fine provided everyone with parental responsibility agrees. Unlike an enrolled deed poll, it is completely free.
