Breach of contract?

I had my boiler replaced last year. As part of the fee quote, the plumbers included 2 boiler services. I agreed to the quote, they installed the boiler, and I paid promptly. As seems to be the case these days, I contacted them twice now to book my first service, and they are not getting back to me. I believe they're now in breach of contract- but what can I do?

Firstly - it’s a very very busy time of year for plumbers and gas engineers/boiler specialists in particular. They may just be busy and slow to respond on something that won’t make money, doesn’t mean they won’t get back yo you eventually. Have you tried calling or just emailing?

Secondly- Was it a company or an individual? If a company, does it still exist or has the firm gone under/been wound up (if in doubt you can check via companies house site). If the company doesn’t exist any more then you’ve nothing to claim against unfortunately.

If they still exist (or it was an individual) and if they are genuinely refusing to do the service (rather than just delayed) then yes it’s a breach. As pp says, all you can do is small claims court , and perhaps threatening to badmouth on social media .

Thanks to you both. Remarkably, (perhaps), they contacted me not long after this went up and I'm all booked in. Clearly, post on Mumsnet is the most appropriate and useful first course of action :-)
