Got into a car accident yesterday (no major damage done and everyone was fine luckily!), I am a named driver on the car however when going to make my claim to let them know, I realised I’m still on there in my maiden name but my licence is my married name!
I never thought to change it as we’ve been with the same company for years and it just auto renews every year
Are they likely to invalidate my insurance if I’m found to be at fault?

Unlikely. Your change of name does not affect the level of risk.

I’m just worried as my license number is now different to that on the policy
saying that I am a named driver on my husbands car and his licence number isn’t even on there!

They're not allowed to invalidate it for reasons that aren't about you pulling the wool.

You usually get cheaper premiums when you're married, weirdly enough.

Thank you! It was a genuine mistake so I’m hoping they see that if they question it! Lesson learned to check the info on the renewal every year!!

My insurance doesn't have my licence number on it. I had changed my insurance and not the licence so opposite to you. As long as you have your marriage certificate if they challenge you.

I work in Insurance but haven’t worked in Motor. I would say that it is possible that your insurance will be invalidated and this is likely to be a matter of discretion. You can only ask. Golden rule is to never ever lie to an insurer (not that you would!).

I changed my name and licence number on the policy before I submitted the claim and they never even asked about it :)
