Differences in pay

Hi

Would anyone have any knowledge around being paid different amount in different departments but for the same job.

As a team I'm fairly confident we are all paid the same (Minor differences due to skills etc)
However, different areas of the business employe the same job but pay significantly more (10-15k)

Is this allowed?

It's definitely allowed, and quite common in some industries, but if you're sure the demands of the role are equal you might be able to use that as an example to argue for a pay raise.

Not a legal requirement though (unless it's clearly due to gender etc, which it doesn't sound like it is and is hard to prove regardless).

Definitely allowed, look at CS jobs, some departments pay really poorly for a role that might attract the salary difference you've referred to in another.

Ah ok
Thank you
Annoying but happy to accept it's the way it is

If there is a gender imbalance then there might be a case (I am not an employment lawyer though). However if you look at industries such as professional football, which would fit in to your OP, there's a very specific reason linked to profitability why the women's team is paid less.

It is therefore quite a complex area.
