Hi, hope someone can help I am unsure what direction to take at the moment as still employed but wondering whether to take this further and raise a grievance. Sorry it’s long!
I went on maternity leave in February 2023.
In July 2023 the company had a business wide restructure which meant my role no longer existed. There were no redundancies and everyone was asked to preference which area they went into. I was told not to worry we would discuss that when I was due to return.
I returned in January 2024 to a role which albeit similar to my previous role does not suit my technical skills as much. I have been learning that role and thrown myself into doing a good job.
During this time they have also decided that there will be a handful of key locations nationally as hub centres and job vacancies are now only advertised at those sites for the whole of my business area.
there has now been a role advertised which many of my previous colleagues are doing as they were mapped into it during the business transformation. I am not able to apply for that role as I am not based in one of the sites they want. I cannot apply for any vacancies internally. If I had been in the business and not on maternity leave I would probably be sat in that team. I now have no choice but to leave this company to progress my career. Is all this legal or do I have grounds for a grievance?
