I’m not a solicitor but went through the probate process recently. I can try and if not someone else might see your post

I went through it in Spring, so happy to help answer questions if I can.

I’ve completed Probate forms twice. To start with I rang the Probate Office helpline who asked a few questions and then told me which forms needed completion. If there’s property involved, you need a rough valuation price along with amounts in bank accounts. That’s the first simple things to get in place.

Citizens Advice do a really good and basic guide to everything you need to think about. It's a really good guide and will answer a lot of your questions. If you are unsure about anything at all then just ask further questions here.

Please can you all tell how long it took for grant of probate and which region you applied in, if in the UK?

Took 9 months for ours to go through (Liverpool - nowhere near us!) but it was complex and borderline for IHT so they went through it with a fine toothcomb. Other simple probates mentioned on this site were simpler and quicker.
I'm not sure you can select which office it goes to - I thought it goes to a central post and then they divert to the queue at one of the different probate offices.
