Cervical Spine MRI after car accident

Hey guys,

I was involved in an accident back in April where I was rear ended by an uninsured driver. Car has been written off.
immediately after the crash I was quite startled but not in pain. However within a few days I started experiencing neck pain and upper left shoulder pain, making it very sore when driving, sleeping in certain positions , bearing weight on my left side etc .
I left it a few weeks as I thought it would go but it didn’t/hasnt. I went to my GP and was sent for an MRI however it took a few weeks to pluck up the courage to go for the MRI due to my anxiety / being claustrophobic.
Ive never had any issues with my neck or back before and my results came back as follows:
Straightening of the normal cervical lordosis which may be related to muscle spasm and early desiccation of the lower cervical intervertebral discs. No significant disc bulge or herniation.
is this just from my age (30yo female ) or could this be as a result from the accident? Any ideas ?

The reason I have posted this in ‘legal matters’ is due to looking into seeking compensation for my injury as I’m left in pain with two small kids and being unable to do certain things with them and it p*sees me off especially as it was an uninsured driver

Sounds like you need physio for whiplash.

Who are you seeking compensation from? If the driver was uninsured you won’t get any money from them.

can you get compensation from your own insurance? Won’t that drive up your premiums?

not an expert but what you’ve described sounds like a minor neck injury. Some muscle spasm, and a couple of discs may have been affected. Depending on any other PMH the disc desiccation may or may not be related to the trauma.

what sort of compensation are you asking for? Lost earnings? Expenses? Physio?

Surely these are questions you pursue through your insurance company. If they resolved your car write off do they know you may have a personal injury claim?

Normally those who are injured in accidents get a special medical report which gives an opinion on causation.

No-one here can advise you on that as it requires reviewing all the medical evidence and examining you.

I’m in Ireland and there is a group called the MIBI who protect people who have been injured following collisions with uninsured drivers. They cover vehicle damage, property damage which I assume might mean car seats etc and personal injury . Part of the cost of insurance goes to this group in the event that something like this happens.

You might have insurance for your losses if other driver was uninsured

I don't think any responsible professional would give an opinion on an MRI scan result posted on the internet.

Can you get an in-person medical assessment/ opinion?
