18 months ago i was pulled over and they said they had filmed me on my phone. I dont think i was on it - in my hand Maybbbbeee but not using. However I have since asked for this video footage from the police and have had nothing. Its now escalated, and Im now going to court, Ive asked again to the police for the video footage and still ive had no evidence from the police. Ive asked multiple times. What do I do now? I believe they have to share there evidence with you prior to court?

How is using your phone through your car's touch screen safer than using the phone directly? I can't understand that rule at all.

CarPlay won’t let you do a bunch of things while you’re driving. Functionality that requires looking at the screen for more than a glance is limited. You can’t, for instance, type.

When the mobile phone ban first came in research showed that using a hands free device wasn’t any safer than using the handset, so this may not be safer. But that was before smart phones or the dominance of texting over calling.

Why not use your voice and eliminate the confusion ?

A witness statement from a police officer is evidence though

I didn’t say it wasn’t.

I am saying what I am saying. All this pissing around on this thread about all the nuances of when/if/how you can touch your phone when driving are a total irrelevance (if not mystery) to anyone who spent the minute or so it takes to learn how to ask Google* to do whatever you need.

Or to put it another way ... if I see someone needing to touch their phone driving - let alone have it clamped to their ear - then I make certain assumptions about their general intelligence, as well as a note to stay as clear as possible.

I still don't understand, or maybe your comments have no relevance to my post that you quoted.
